Lunch in the Taverna of the Apollo Blue Resort in Faliraki, Rhodes, Greece

A few days ago I had the pleasure to meet with good friends in the taverna of the Apollo Blue Resort and taste some of the delicacies on offer. Many thanks to Minas Minaides and his wife Angelica for offering me this delicious meal.

We started with taramossalata mixed with cuttle fish ink. It was delicious.

We continued with red mullet crudo, which disappeared before I could manage to take a picture. It was light, fresh, soft, with sweet undertones.

The next dish was thinly sliced swordfish cured in a mix of herbs used in “pastirma”. Absolutely delicious. The spicy mix counterbalanced the richness of the fish.

The octopus that came next was boiled until reasonably soft and then grilled on charcoals. It was seasoned with “balsamico” and was an absolute delight.

I like red mullet any way it comes, as long as it is cooked properly. The fried red mullets that were served next were perfectly cooked and unbelievably fresh.

The meal was concluded with rice cooked in the ink of cuttle fish. I could eat the whole pot if I were given the chance.

Enalia Santorini 2019 accompanied the food in a wonderful way.

Thank you Minas, thank you Angelica!
